The app is located at https://www.beyondthewallsapp.com and will open in your phone's browser. Once you are there, create an account (or log into an existing one) and find the game you want to play. Enter the game and tap the “Join” button. At that time, you will purchase the game. Only one person on a team of up to 5 needs to make the payment, and then after payment is complete, that person will choose to join the game as a Team, adding in the other team members using their account information, or join the game as Solo, using only one phone that the team shares.
Route-based games have a specific point where you need to start the game. The game will take you along a set route as you see exciting landmarks, discover information about the area that will amaze you, and solve some puzzles. Route-based game descriptions on the website have information about where the game will start and stop, the distance you will walk, and the approximate time the game will take to play. Finish the route and compare your score to others who have played the game! Route-based games are an easier difficulty.

Most games can be started whenever you and your group are ready to play. We suggest you allow time to complete location-based challenges within daylight hours.
Outdoor Escape Games are events with set dates and times, so make sure you look for a date and time that will work for you, and be sure to arrive early!
For most games, you can stop playing at any time. If, for some reason, you are not able to get back to a game for a while, but wish to play a different game in the meantime, that is not a problem. You can still pick back up where you left off of a game, even if you have played another game since starting the first one. If the game has a timer (like a Race Game), be sure to pause the timer so that the time doesn't run out before you can come back to it.
Outdoor Escape Games are events with set start times and play time, cannot be paused, and need to be completed within the time allotted, so make sure you choose a start date and time that will allow you time to finish in the time allotted!
Points are earned by completing unique challenges. Challenges may include completing GPS missions, answering trivia questions, or submitting photos or videos. Point tally and team ranking is available on the Leader Board.

No, Beyond the Walls is a location-based experience and requires a data connection to play. It also requires that location services be turned on for the browser you are using.
You may create an account with an email address, or via Facebook or a Google account. Just keep in mind that if you log in with Facebook the first time, then create an account with an email address the next time, we’ll think you are two different people and your points for different games will not accumulate. Go for consistency.

Joining as a team means that you want to play as a team, and that more than one person from your team wants to create an account in the Beyond the Walls app and be able to see and answer the questions from their own phone. Note that each team member will need to create their own account before a team can be created. One person will form the team, adding to the team the other(s) who want to play on the same team for this game. Once one person has answered a question, no one else on the team will need to answer it, and all players will receive a combined score.
Joining solo means that you can still play as a team, but you will be using one phone to do so. This is also how you will join if you are playing the game alone.
Make sure your phone is completely charged before starting. We also suggest that you lower your camera resolution before starting to save on data usage.
